In response to the unprecedented drought conditions in California, the state has instituted a plan to reduce urban water consumption by 25% over the course of a year. While broad regulations are in place for businesses, such as forgoing serving water except on request in restaurants, meeting this reduction also requires the efforts of every household. The goal may seem lofty, but it’s easier to cut your water usage than you may think—especially after a short trip to the hardware store. Start by swapping out older faucets for low-flow ones. If you have an outdoor hose, be sure it has a shut-off nozzle. In your yard, consider rocks and hardscape instead of plants that require regular watering. Find out more about home water conservation in this infographic from Payless Hardware, Rockery and Nursery. Our hardware stores have the tools you need to easily curb your water use.
